ST. LOUIS (AP) — Agribusiness conglomerate Archer Daniels Midland Co. announced plans Wednesday to cut 1,000 jobs, or about 3 percent of its total workforce, with the majority of the positions being salaried staff.
The move will cut about 15 percent of the Decatur, Ill.-based company’s corporate staff, CEO Patricia Woertz said in statement.
Archer Daniels Midland reported $2.03 billion in profits for the last fiscal year alone, but a volatile global market for crops has made for unpredictable revenue. Read more on NewsOK.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — On the eve of the crucial New Hampshire primary, President Barack Obama told supporters Monday that the Republicans vying for his job out on the campaign trail are no different from the ones opposing his policies on Capitol Hill.
Speaking at an evening fundraiser at a Washington hotel, Obama several times dismissed “the Republicans in Congress and the candidates running for president,” saying both groups were trying to eliminate needed environmental protections, roll back the minimum wage, dismantle Medicare and gut spending on education, research and infrastructure.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Four painful years after the Great Recession struck and wiped out 8.7 million jobs, the United States may finally be in an elusive pattern known as a virtuous cycle — an escalating loop of hiring and spending.
The nation added 200,000 jobs in December in a burst of hiring that drove the unemployment rate down two notches to 8.5 percent, its lowest in almost three years, and led economists to conclude that the improvement in the job market might just last.
